The “Österreichischen Traditionsweingüter” invite you to the tasting of their ERSTE LAGE wines from 2017 on September 7, 2018 in Schloss Grafenegg.
Every wine enthusiast knows that quality wine needs time and space to develop. Because of this, the member companies have decided to wait until September to put the ERSTE LAGE wines on the market. The winemakers are pleased to introduce approximately 140 wines for the first time at the 2018 Grafenegg music festival with a table presentation in the magnificent premises of Grafenegg Castle in Lower Austria. Following the tasting, there is a concert by the Tonkünstler Niederösterreich Orchestra.
The Association of Traditional Austrian Wineries has set the goal of classifying the historically outstanding vineyards in the Danube region (Kamptal, Kremstal, Traisental, Wagram) in order to give wine enthusiasts an orientation guide to the diverse world of wines. 60 exceptional sites are now able to bear the 1ÖTW symbol. The wines they produce create wines that are typically Austrian, independent, local, very sophisticated, and strong in character. They use first-class grapes, the quality of which is not measured by the sugar content but defined to a particular degree by their origin. The specific vineyard provides the conditions that allow the grapes to develop individually in order to then express the personality and typical nature of the site in the wine. These are only the two most traditional varieties in the Danube region, Grüner Veltliner and Riesling, each in dry stylistics – as with the specific origin (DAC) regulation.
